Romuald Wadagni, declared winner of the presidential election in the Benin held on April 12, is set to take the oath of office during an official inauguration ceremony taking place this Sunday in Cotonou, the country’s economic capital.

This event marks a significant political transition in Benin, widely regarded as one of the more stable democracies in West Africa. The ceremony officially confirms the transfer of executive power and the beginning of Wadagni’s presidential mandate.

According to available information, around fifteen foreign delegations are expected to attend the ceremony, reflecting strong international interest in Benin’s political transition and its role in regional stability.

Among the invited delegations are representatives from the three member states of the Alliance of Sahel States, namely Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. Their participation is particularly notable given ongoing political and security tensions across the Sahel region.
